MOSCOW, February 25 (Itar-Tass) — Presidential candidate and businessman Mikhail Prokhorov already announced on his site registration into his new party.
Prokhorov announced this news on Saturday at a meeting with voters at the Russian Academy of Sciences.
The anchorman of the meeting announced: “I’d like to say as a reference for the audience that Mikhail announced registration into his party on Friday. ‘Window’ appeared on Saturday on the site – ‘registration to the Prokhorov party.”
According to the anchorman, “this was made three hours ago; 4,703 people were registered at this time”.
“The party is already swelling,” Prokhorov commented on the news.
According to the presidential candidate, his party will be in a sense apolitical; it will swell thanks to non-government and apolitical movements, for instance, ecological, while the present parties “live in the past century”.
“Leaders in parties should be elected not by a closed political council due to puzzling principles, but citizens could elect those in each region with the use of new technologies who are a moral authority for them,” Prokhorov explained. The candidate assured that he would rely on new technologies, on opinion of fellow citizens and will invite to the party “precisely these moral authorities”.
“It’s necessary to form a party, reflecting the state of civil society,” the presidential candidate emphasized.
Prokhorov reported several days ago that he “decided to form a real right-wing party and switches over even now to creating a new political force during the election campaign”.
Prokhorov headed the Right Cause Party late in June 2011. However, he occupied the post of its leader less than three months. Following the scandalous congress of rightists in mid-September, Prokhorov resigned, failing to materialize his plans for participating in the State Duma elections.
