MOSCOW, February 24 (Itar-Tass) — An officer of the Russian Federal Guard Service has thwarted a robbery attempt in a Moscow drugstore and detained an armed robber. The officer's name was not made public.
On the way home after work on February 10, the FGS officer came into a drugstore at Sretensky Boulevard. At the moment, two robbers, one with a gun, were inside. They seized 100,000 roubles, a source at the FGS press service told Itar-Tass.
The officer, assessing the situation, with special techniques detained an armed bandit and held him until police arrived to the scene. However, the second robber escaped.
The FGS is in charge of state guard as well as presidential and governmental communications.
