ALABINO, February 22 (Itar-Tass) —— Prime Minister Vladimir Putin said fatherland Defenders’ Day, traditionally celebrated in Russia on February 23, is a special day for him.

This day was always celebrated as a double holiday in Putin’s family because it was also his father’s birthday.

“We always celebrated this day in our family as a double holiday – as my father’s birthday and as the military’s day. My family was always very reverent to this holiday because a lot of lives were lost during the war both on my father’s and my mother’s sides. And this was always discussed and taken very personally,” Putin said at a meeting with the commanders of army divisions and brigades on Wednesday, February 22.

Putin said February 23 is a real holiday for him. “And I will celebrate it tomorrow just as you will do,” he added.
