ST. PETERSBURG, February 22 (Itar-Tass) —— The share of modern weapons in the Russian Armed Forces will reach 30% by 2015, and this figure will grow to 70% by 2020, State Duma Speaker Sergei Naryshkin said at a meeting with the staff of the11th training centre of the Air Defence Missile Troops in Gatchina on Wednesday.

“Strategic troops, like ours, will be fully provided with advanced weapons,” he noted.

In a congratulatory message to the participants of the meeting on the occasion of the upcoming Day of the Defender of the Fatherland, the State Duma speaker noted that it is important to settle the social problems of servicemen. He recalled that since January 1, 2012 the remuneration of servicemen tripled and the pensions went up by 50%. “There are other important social tasks that should be settled, primarily the housing problem,” he pointed out. The task of personal housing will be settled in 2012-2013, and the servicemen will be provided with the comfortable service housing in the next few years.

The State Duma speaker was watching the deployment of the air defense missile system S-300PMU2 Favorit. “What I saw inspires me, a high morale and professionalism are obvious everywhere,” Naryshkin remarked.

The Favorit air defense missile system is designed for the defense of the most important administrative, industrial and military facilities from air strikes.
