TEHRAN, February 22 (Itar-Tass) —— Iran does not seek gaining access to nuclear weapons, Iran's Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei said at a meeting with the staff of the nuclear industry on Wednesday.
“We want to change the existing principle of superiority based on access to nuclear weapons, and Allah will help the people of Iran in succeeding in it,” he said.
He made the statement following the visit to Iran of a delegation of the International Atomic Energy Agency /IAEA/. The IAEA’s Director General Yukiya Amano expressed disappointment with results of the negotiations in Tehran.
Iran’s officials claim that the nuclear program of the Islamic Republic of Iran is exclusively for peaceful purposes, and all fears about its military component are groundless.
