MOSCOW, February 22 (Itar-Tass) — Russia urges the Syrian authorities and the opposition to cease violence, Foreign Ministry spokesman Alexander Lukashevich said on Wednesday.
“We call on all Syrian parties to cease violence. We address both the authorities and the opposition that should dissociate itself from extremists,” the diplomat said.
“Such steps are aimed at contributing to the immediate launch of an all-Syrian dialogue as the unique way towards the conflict's settlement by peaceful and diplomatic means. Jointly with international partners Russia is ready to work efficiently in order achieve this goal, including within the U.N.,” the spokesman stressed.
