MOSCOW, February 22 (Itar-Tass) —— Russia’s federal migration service plans to equip the country’s border crossing stations with scanners, which will transfer information on migrants, head of the service, Konstantin Romodanovsky, told the Governmental Hour hearing at the Federation Council on Wednesday.
He explained that the service did not have “an automated transfer of information from border crossing stations.”
“Asof yet, in Domodedovo, Sheremetyevo and Vnukovo we use machine readable migration cards; and this information is transferred directly into our system,” he said. “Other border crossing stations do not have such equipment.”
“Primarily, we plan to equip all border crossing stations in Vladivostok, St. Petersburg, Kazan, Sochi and Kaliningrad with such devices,” he said. “However, this needs to be done throughout Russia.”
