Zorkin reappointed as a Chairman of the Constitutional Court

The Federation Council on Wednesday has reappointed Valery Zorkin Chairman of the Constitutional Court

MOSCOW, February 22 (Itar-Tass) — The Federation Council on Wednesday has reappointed Valery Zorkin Chairman of the Constitutional Court.

Earlier, President Medvedev had nominated Zorkin for the post and submitted the candidature to the Federation Council for approval.

The 69- year-old Valery Zorkin was supported by 141 senators with no votes against and one abstention.

Valery Zorkin was the first Chairman of the Constitutional court appointed in 1991. In 2003 Zorkin was reinstated in the post of the Constitutional Court Chairman and he remained at this post  ever since.
