Another guard from the personal guard service of the Abkhazian president died of wounds he received in an armed incident

SUKHUM, February 22 (Itar-Tass) — Another guard from the personal guard service of the Abkhazian president died of wounds he received in an armed incident when an armed attack on a motorcade of President of Abkhazia Alexander Ankwab was made on Wednesday morning.

An explosion was staged on the Gudauta- Sukhum motorway at around 8.30 am Moscow time Wednesday. First, a land mine planted on the motorway exploded, then gunfire was opened from a grenade launcher and submachine guns.

One of the cars in the presidential motorcade burnt down to rubble. The life of President Alexander Ankwab is not in danger.

Interior Minister Otar Khetsia and Prosecutor General of Abkhazia Safarbei Mikanba have arrived on the scene of the armed incident.
