Some 20 persons held responsible for an illegal rally

Police drew protocols of administrative offense against the majority of the detainees under Article 20.2 of the Code of Administrative Offenses

MOSCOW, February 22 (Itar-Tass) — Some 20 persons were detained on Tuesday for the attempt to hold an illegal rally near the building of the Central Election Commission, the press service of the Interior Ministry's department for Moscow told Itar-Tass.

"Some 20 persons were detained near the CEC building in central Moscow. Police drew protocols of administrative offense against the majority of the detainees under Article 20.2 of the Code of Administrative Offenses /"violation of rules for holding rallies and pickets," the press service said.

Police drew protocols under Article 19.3 of the Code of Administrative Offenses against four persons for "disobeying the legitimate demand of a police officer."

"One of the detainees, a 25-year-old woman, felt sick, an ambulance was called to the scene. The authorities are deciding on whether to open a criminal case against another detainee over the use of violence against a government representative.

Activists of the Other Russia Opposition party attempted to hold an unsanctioned rally near the building of the Central Election Commission in Bolshoi Cherkassky Lane on Tuesday. They began to gather at 19:00, Moscow time, to protest the "falsified" presidential election, which they alleged had already been rigged.
