Over 20 gunmen detained in North Caucasus last week

PYATIGORSK, February 21 (Itar-Tass) —— Some 24 gunmen were detained in the North Caucasus Federal District in the period from February 11-17, the press service of the main Interior Ministry department for the North Caucasus Federal District reported on Tuesday.

The press service noted that for this period of time “the law enforcement agencies and federal troops carried out 57 successful operations,” during which warlord Ibragimkhail Daudov, nicknamed amir-salekh, and Magomed Kasumov, a ringleader from the Khasavyurt gang, were destroyed in Dagestan.

“Five bandits were also destroyed in Dagestan and warlord Abdula Abdulkerimov was detained,” a press release, which is posted on the website of the police department, said.

The policemen have found a base of gunmen and four arms caches. They also confiscated a flamethrower, nine submachine guns, 56 shells, 32 grenades, 1.8 kilograms of explosives and over 10,400 cartridges.

Three terrorist crimes were reported in the North Caucasus. The bomb blast went off in Pyatigorsk, two fire exchanges took place in Tyrnyauz, Kabardino-Balkaria, and in the Khasavyurt district of Dagestan, two clashes broke out, the press service reported.

“Some 11 servicemen were killed and another 19 servicemen were injured in the law enforcement agencies and federal forces in the bandit armed attacks. The bandits also killed a civilian,” the press service reported.
