GORKI, February 20 (Itar-Tass) — President Dmitry Medvedev said he is ready to listen to the leaders of non-registered parties and their remarks on the changes needed in the political system.

Medvedev said he hoped for their support in liberalization of the political system. “Our political system is far from being perfect. Most of those who are present here criticise it.” In addition, the president said, “In order to change it, it is more desirable to rely on common sense.”

In his view, “now it is time to start implementing changes. For the last four years I’ve been making changes in certain spheres of the political system. Now it is time to do this more actively.”

“I may hear words of support from those, who have gathered here because you have no state registration. The problem of liberalising the procedure for creating a party can be more important for you than for the political parties that engaged in politics long ago,” Medvedev said.

The meeting involved leader of the Party of People’s Freedom Boris Nemtsov, leader of the Republican Party Vladimir Ryzhkov, Left Front head Sergei Udaltsov, leader of the Russian People’s Union Sergei Baburin and others.
