KIEV, February 20 (Itar-Tass) — President Viktor Yanukovich said a permanent dialogue would make contribution to the effective development of relations between Ukraine and Russia.
During a meeting with Russian State Duma speaker Sergei Naryshkin on Monday, Yanukovich said, “We believe that high-level contacts between our countries will always have a positive impact and become a stabilising factor for our relations.”
The president said he is convinced that relations between the two countries would develop at all levels. “No doubt we will create an atmosphere of friendship and mutual understanding between both parliaments,” the Ukrainian head of state noted.
For his part, Naryshkin thanked Yanukovich for an opportunity to visit Ukraine. He stressed, “I hope that my visit will be fruitful and effective, moreover given to the very active political dialogue, that is being held by the leaders of our countries, I hope that my visit will give a good impetus to the development of cooperation in all fields – economic, humanitarian and political ones.”
“I’d like inter-parliamentary cooperation and the dialogue to help strengthen our contacts and interaction in all spheres. We are ready to maintain active and effective contacts,” Naryshkin stressed.
