BARNAUL, February 19 (Itar-Tass) — Rescuers in the Altai Territory released three workers, blocked in a mine after a downfall of rock. None of them was injured.

Work on overcoming aftermaths of the downfall continues, Itar-Tass learnt at the Altai territorial branch of the Russian Ministry for Emergencies.

The downfall at the Poteryevsky ore mine near the city of Rubtsovsk, Altai Territory, took place early on Sunday morning at 07.34 local time. Miners who worked night shift, turned to be blocked by rock. According to preliminary data, the downfall occurred at a depth of 100 metres. There was no fire in the mine.

As many as 96 people came to the surface right after the emergency. The three remained in the mine for several hours. A visual contact was established with them, and they received food and drinks.

A crisis centre was set up by the Altai territorial emergency branch and a crisis centre of the Siberian regional agency. The downfall is being cleared by paramilitary groups of rescuers.

The Poteryaevsky ore mine belongs to the Sibir-Polimetally Company.
