Most Latvians vote against giving Russian official status

RIGA, February 19 (Itar-Tass) —— Latvia’s 21.98 percent citizens voted for granting the Russian language the status of the second state tongue.

According to the initial information from the Central Elections Commission from 653 voting stations of 1,035, the majority of voters – 77.75 percent voted against the amendments to the country’s Constitution. Besides, 0.27 percent of ballots were announced invalid.
