MOSCOW, February 18 (Itar-Tass) — Presidential candidate nominated by the A Just Russia party Sergei Mironov has signed an agreement on cooperation with the League of Voters.

Mironov and the League of Voters have agreed to create the so-called consolidated protocol – a database from observers. By signing the agreement, Mironov said, “Any forms of such cooperation, which is aimed at recording citizens’ real expression of will, should be lauded by all presidential candidates.”

“If we collect such documents throughout Russia and sum up all votes, we will believe that this is real express of will by our citizens,” Mironov said. “If it turns out to be that regional polling stations, the Central Election Commission and the Government Automatic System have other figures, we will consider data of primary protocols only authentic,” he said.

The leader of the A Just Russia party noted that the agreement also envisaged exchanging information, training observers and creating single information centres where primary protocols will come to. To this end, Mironov recalled that the recent parliamentary campaign had mass violations and falsifications, including in St Petersburg.

According to representatives of the League of Voters, Andrei Dyomin and Georgy Vasilyev, who took part in the signing ceremony, said they are hopeful that they would succeed in ensuring the alternative counting of votes. In their words, Russians will make free access to the results of voting due to the League of Voters project.

Vasilyev said the League of Voters had proposed all presidential candidates to agree on their initiative. Apart from Mironov, the document was signed by CPRF leader Gennady Zyuganov and businessman Mikhail Prokhorov.

For his part, Mironov expressed hope that the alternative counting of votes would make it possible to rule out any doubt in legitimacy of a future president. “If Russian citizens have doubts, this will be very dangerous and can lead to real destabilisation in our country. That is why I’m sure that every presidential candidate is interest in honest elections,” he stressed.

“I hope that the similar agreements will be signed by presidential candidate, Russian Prime Minister Vladimir Putin and LDPR leader Vladimir Zhirinovsky,” he added.
