Russia hopes to be through with OECD accession procedure by late 2013

International organization would be furnishing major assistance to the G20 summit

PARIS, February 18 (Itar-Tass) —— Russia hopes to be through with the procedure of accession to the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development toward the end of 2013, Russia’s First Deputy Foreign Minister Andrei Denisov said on Friday.

He said an act on Russia’s accession to the OECD Convention on Combating Bribery of Foreign Public Officials was handed over to OECD Secretary-General Angel Gurria, which was major event on the way towards full OECD membership.

Denisov believes that joining the OECD in 2013 would be of special importance, because in that year Russia would take over the rotating presidency of the Group of 20. Simultaneously the Russian diplomat stated that contacts between Russia and the OECD were stepped up lately. He said that that international organization would be furnishing major assistance to the G20 summit.
