Bill on state defence order to be submitted to Duma soon

The draft law “On the State Defence Order” has already been prepared, it passed all the necessary approval procedures and in the short run will be submitted to the State Duma

MOSCOW, February 17 (Itar-Tass) — The bill on the state defence order will be submitted soon to the State Duma,  Nikolai Patrushev, RF Security Council Secretary said.

The Defence Ministry “reasonably is in no hurry to conclude contracts on the supply of weapons in cases when it believes the price is unjustifiably high or the samples morally outdated,” he said in an interview published by the Komsomolskaya Pravda newspaper on Friday.

However, he said, “there is also another aspect of the problem: the military department should clearly formulate for the defence industry complex its requirements to weapons.” “Moreover, all these matters should be sorted out in advance in order to prevent a situation in which the order for weapons is formed in December, and the money comes only in May,” he noted.

Patrushev recalled that “this is why the country's president has recently instructed Deputy Prime Minister Rogozin to fully resolve this issue in April.”

“The problem’s legislative regulation is also needed here. By the way, the draft law “On the State Defence Order” has already been prepared. It has passed all the necessary approval procedures and in the short run will be submitted to the State Duma,” he said.
