Fraudsters steal 15 million roubles from Rosatom's affiliate

Police opened a criminal case over fraud in which 15 million roubles were stolen from a daughter company of the Rosatom state nuclear energy corporation

MOSCOW, February 16 (Itar-Tass) — Police opened a criminal case over fraud in which 15 million roubles were stolen from a daughter company of the Rosatom state nuclear energy corporation.

"The fraudsters stole the money under the pretext of arranging supplies of equipment," a law-enforcement official told Itar-Tass.

In the period from May 2007 through December 2011, the fraudsters, acting on behalf of a commercial firm, concluded a contract with the institute for non-organic materials research institute, federal state unitary enterprise, which is a daughter company of Rosatom, whereupon they presented fictitious reports of conveyance and acceptance.

The fraudsters then withdrew 15 million roubles from an account of the above company.

An investigation is underway. There has been no official information from the law-enforcement agencies yet.
