Krasnoyarsk economic forum to discuss strategic initiatives

About 2,500 prominent Russian politicians, scientists, chief executives of leading world investment companies will participate in the 9th Krasnoyarsk Economic Forum

KRASNOYARSK, February 16 (Itar-Tass) —— About 2,500 prominent Russian politicians, scientists, chief executives of leading world investment companies will participate in the 9th Krasnoyarsk Economic Forum, which opens here on Thursday. The forum is devoted to the theme entitled the time of strategic initiatives. The forum should forecast and debate strategic initiatives, which determine socio-economic development of Russia and regions in next electoral and investment cycles.

The forum should discuss the attraction of long-term foreign investments in Russian regions, a domestic business initiative, the problems to make the energy infrastructure more accessible. The forum will focus on the potential and priorities of international cooperation, the Siberian role in geopolitical and economic space, the prospects for the technological upgrade of the basic sectors of Russian production industries.

The forum will hold exhibitions, round-table meetings, panel discussions involving qualified politicians, economists, chief executives of leading Russian companies and young people.

Federal high-ranking officials are traditionally expected to attend the Krasnoyarsk Economic Forum. Officials from the Ministry of Regional Development, the Ministry of Economic Development, the Finance Ministry and the Transport Ministry already confirmed their participation. Finance Minister Anton Siluanov, Deputy Finance Minister Alexander Novak, Deputy Minister of Economic Development Stanislav Voskresensky are expected to participate in the forum.

Not only the leading Russian companies, but also such major international investors as Apollo (the United States), CIC (China), Caisse des Depots (France), Macquarie (Australia), Goldman Sachs (the US), Apax (Great Britain), Eton Park, CVCI (the US) are participating in the forum. Aggregate assets in these foundations exceed 1.2 trillion dollars.

“The Krasnoyarsk Economic Forum will allow representatives of scientific and business communities, legislative and executive authorities to outline concrete ways to settle the tasks, which Russia in general and the region in particular are facing, will open broad prospects for business cooperation and mutually beneficial agreements,” Governor of the Krasnoyarsk Territory Lev Kuznetsov said.

The territorial government is expected to conclude investment agreements worth of several dozen billions of roubles at the forum.

The forum will be held from February 16 to February 18 under the official support of the Russian government. The ITAR-TASS news agency is a general information partner of the forum.
