Russia can back UN General Assembly resolution on Syria if it takes its stance

Russia can support a U.N. General Assembly resolution on Syria if the document takes into account Moscow’s position

THE HAGUE, February 15 (Itar-Tass) — Russia can support a U.N. General Assembly resolution on Syria if the document takes into account Moscow’s position, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said.

“We will proceed from the contents of the resolution. If our position is taken into account, we will discuss measures to reach a consensus,” Lavrov said on Wednesday.

“If the logic of the resolution is one-sided and if the resolution ignores people’s killings by the Syrian opposition, the resolution will not help,” the Russian minister said.

The U.N. General Assembly will discuss the resolution on Syria on Thursday, February 16.
