MOSCOW, February 14 (Itar-Tass) —— Dagestani militant leader Ibragim-Khalil Daudov aka “Saleh” is dead, a representative of the National Counter Terrorism Committee told Itar-Tass.
He said Daudov was killed in the Karabudakhkent district of Dagestan, in a police operation in Gurbuki, on February 11. Daudov led militants operating in the republic after the death of former militant leader Validzhanov, he said.
“The neutralization of the militant leader made it possible to thwart criminal acts he was planning,” the source said.
He also said that four militants were killed in the operation and one was injured but managed to escape.
“The escaped militant was found dead three kilometers north of the Gurbuki village in the Gubden-Ozen River. He was identified as Dagestani militant leader Ibragim-Khalil Daudov aka “Saleh” born in the village of Gubden in the Karabudakhkent district in 1960,” he said.
Daudov was wanted federally for preparing a terror act in Moscow on December 31, 2010. On that day, his wife died while assembling a bomb in Kuzminki.
“The three sons of Daudov [Magomedshapi born in 1982, Magomed born in 1984 and Magomedkhabib born in 1990] were members of illegal armed units. They were neutralized in police operations. Before Daudov started hiding from the police, he was engaged in illegal arms trade, a number of terrorist acts, explosions, extortions, murders and attacks, including the terror act in Gubden involving suicide bombers Maria Khorosheva and Vitaly Razdobudko,” the source said.
In his online addresses Daudov openly declared his criminal intentions as regards civilians and threatened clerics, businessmen and law enforcers.
