Russia and Israel have reiterated their commitment to reform the United Nations Organization

MOSCOW, February 14 (Itar-Tass) — Russia and Israel have reiterated their commitment to reform the United Nations Organization, a spokesman for the Russian Foreign Ministry said on Tuesday, commenting on the consultations Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Gennady Gatilov had with Israel’s foreign ministry and national security officials.

“The sides confirmed Russia’s and Israel’s commitment to the enhacement of he efficiency of the United Nations Organization as a key international mechanism of collective response to numerous challenges of today,” the spokesman said. “Gatilov supported the Israeli side’s determination to making more active efforts within the United Nations.”

“The sides shared the opinion that further reforms of the United Nations are needed to build up its operations and anti-crisis potential,” the spokesman noted. “The sides stressed that the decision on the U.N. reforms is to go through an intergovernmental mechanism of agreement with due account of each and every member state and to be passed on the basis of their common consent.”
