The NPP construction if the major project of Belarus’ cooperation with Vnesheconombank, as the latter is the channel of the project funding, the president said.

“We have already started to implement this colossal project. I would like that there will be no slowdowns in the process. At present, we should do our best to intensify the NPP construction,” he said, pointing to the importance of the project for Russia just now, when the disputes on the atomic energy future are very topical across the world.

“We will demonstrate that Russia’s technologies in those hi-tech spheres and our possibilities can evidence that the epoch of the atomic energy industry does not end and has future,” the Belarusian leader said.

A few time ago, the bank (VEB) and the Belarusian government signed a memorandum of cooperation, Lukashenko reaffirmed.

Dmitriyev, in turn, stated that the two countries have “a huge field for joint activities.” In his words, the NPP construction is a very promising project. “We are thankful that Belarus chose our subsidiary as a partner, which creates additional possibilities for the seamless funding of the plant’s construction, without technical difficulties,” he said.

Besides, the capital assets of the Belarusian subsidiary of VEB – Belvnesheconombank – have increased significantly since the memorandum of cooperation became effective, the VEB chairman said, adding that VEB’s contribution in the Belarusian subsidiary is estimated at about one billion U.S. dollars.
