A deputy chief of Kyrgyzstan’s border outpost was killed in a shootout on the Kyrgyz-Tajik border

BISHKEK, February 13 (Itar-Tass) — A deputy chief of Kyrgyzstan’s border outpost was killed in a shootout on the Kyrgyz-Tajik border, the press service of the border service of the State National Security Committee told Itar-Tass on Monday.

Border guards stopped for a random check a Hyundai Porter car en route to Tajikistan at the Samarkandyk border outpost. One of the passengers started insulting the servicemen and blocked the road with his car. Suddenly he snatched a pistol out of a serviceman’s hands and made several shots.

As a result Lieutenant Kanat Duishenaliyev was injured and died of wounds in a hospital.

The local resident, who opened fire, and a Tajik citizen, who drove the car, were arrested.

A criminal case was instituted.
