Putin suggests measures to enlarge Russian population to 154 million

He also called for reviving labor aristocracy, which must amount to no less than a third of skilled labor force (about 10 million) by 2020

MOSCOW, February 12 (Itar-Tass) —— Prime Minister, presidential candidate Vladimir Putin suggested measures, which might enlarge the Russian population to 154 million in the foreseeable future, in his article “Building Justice. Social Policy for Russia” written for the newspaper Komsomolskaya Pravda. The article will be punished on Monday.

Putin proposed the enlargement of salaries of tutors of state higher educational establishments to the region’s average starting from September 1 and said that the salaries must grow to 200% of the region’s average in 2013-2018. The same goal was set for doctors’ salaries.

He also called for reviving labor aristocracy, which must amount to no less than a third of skilled labor force (about 10 million) by 2020.

In regions with negative demographic trends, Putin proposed to pay additional allowances to families with three or more children until the children reach the age of 36 months. “This is a bonus of about 7,000 rubles per month,” the article says. A prime task is to provide a sufficient number of kindergartens within the next four years.

Putin confirmed his negative attitude to an increase of the retirement age.

He also said that scholarships must grow by 5,000 rubles per month.

Russia needs channels dedicated to classic music, theater, fine arts, architecture, literature, history and children’s classics, the candidate said.

He also proposed measures to provide Russians with housing. The elimination of corruptive practice and bureaucracy in housing construction will cut the cost of housing by 20% to 30%.

If the strategy is implemented, the country’s population will grow to 154 million by 2050. If not, it will reduce to 107 million, Putin said.
