TULA, February 11 (Itar-Tass) — Vice-Prime Minister Dmitry Rogozin said a small arms manufacturing facility would be built in Tula.
Rogozin makes a working trip to Tula. He has visited the design bureau, which developed the Pantsyr target tracking and anti-aircraft gun-missile systems, and an exhibition of up-to-date weapons and small arms. The vice-prime minister has met with representatives of the military-industrial complex and the city’s public.
During the meeting, Rogozin said, “Today the key task is to convert defence plants for new uses.”
“We don’t need the old ones.” Many problems should be solved to renovate the Tula arms plant, Rogozin said, adding, “We’ll solve all problems in the future.”
In his words, “a new small arms manufacturing facility will be created. Such plants in other regions are likely to join it.”
Among priorities, he named disposal of outdated ammunition. “The Defence Ministry should not extend their lifetimes. They should be replaced by new, up-to-date weapons,” Rogozin said.
During the trip, the vice-prime minister took part in a meeting, “Tula Residents For Stability and Development”, and visited the arms museum in the Tula Kremlin.
