MOSCOW, February 11 (Itar-Tass) —— Farmers of Russia have supported the candidature of Vladimir Putin for the post of Russian president. A corresponding decision was adopted at a congress of the Association of Farms and Agricultural Cooperatives of Russia in Moscow on Saturday.
At present, the number of farms in Russia jointly with individual entrepreneurs amounts to more than 308,000. The area of lands cultivated by farmers has increased two times over the last 10 years and amounts to about 30 million hectares. The rate of production growth in the farm sector is 4.3 time higher than that in agriculture as a whole.
From 2009 to 2011, the share of small forms of economy in grain production amounts to 46 percent, sunflower production - - to 55 percent, sugar-beet production - - to 25 percent, vegetable production - - to 87 percent and potato production - - to 93 percent. The share of this sector is equal to 48 percent of meat, 65 percent of milk and 27 percent of eggs produced in the country.
