MOSCOW, February 11 (Itar-Tass) —— A missile attack warning radar of a new generation is to enter duty in the Leningrad Region, air and space defense spokesman, Colonel Alexei Zolotukhin told Itar-Tass.

He recalled that late last year a new radar Voronezh-DM was commissioned in the Kaliningrad Region. Another such radar is on experimental duty in the Krasnodar Territory. This year it is to be tested and authorized for service.

“Also, a new generation radar is to be put on test duty in the Irkutsk Region,” Zolotukhin said.

Russia’s missile attack warning radars of the meter and decimeter band are to be built in other regions, too. The areas of such cities as Pechora, Barnaul, Yeniseisk, Omsk and Murmansk are considered as likely sights.
