MOSCOW, February 10 (Itar-Tass) — As many as 49 illegal migrants from Vietnam were detained after police exposed an illegal garments-making shop in the town of Lyubertsy outside of Moscow, a spokesman for the Moscow region police department told Itar-Tass on Friday.
The shop was making outerwear under famous brands. “The shop employed 49 Vietnamese citizens who had no identification documents and work permits,” the spokesman said.
The Vietnamese lived inside the shop and were not let out. The garments were sold at Moscow-based bazaars.
According to the spokesman, a consul from the Vietnamese embassy was summoned to Lyubertsy to execute all necessary documents to expel the illegal migrants.
Police are taking measures to identify the owner of the illegal shop. A criminal case is to be opened.
A foreign labour migrant, who is charged with violation of Russia’s migration rules, might face a fine of 5,000 roubles, while the employer of illegal migrants faces a fine of 800,000 for each of such migrants.
