MOSCOW, February 10 (Itar-Tass) —— Russian Aerospace Defense Forces will be the first arm of the national armed forces to fully switch to digital communications by 2016, head of the main communications department of the Russian Armed Forces Vadim Malyukov said on Thursday.
“We are creating a digital communications system mostly in the interests of the Aerospace Forces as hypersonic flying craft have appeared and thus the time in the intercept zone radically decreases. The time to detect and hit the target considerably decreases. That demands to digitally equip Aerospace Forces to rapidly transmit commands from detecting to killing means,” he said.
Malyukov said the Russian president had issued all the necessary instructions and budget appropriations have been allocated.
