SKOPJE, February 9 (Itar-Tass) — The Macedonian leadership attaches special importance to building, developing and strengthening friendly relations with the Russian Federation, Foreign Minister Nikola Popovski told Itar-Tass on Thursday.
The minister said, “This is conditioned by the role Russia plays on the international arena and by the fact that Russia is a traditional partner of the Republic of Macedonia.”
Popovski said he is satisfied “with the expansion of contacts between the governments of our states”. He stressed “the dynamic development of relations in the fields of education, culture and tourism, the improvement of contacts in the law enforcing sphere. The interior ministries of Russia and Macedonia signed a corresponding agreement”.
“In the forthcoming period we are planning to rivet attention to intensifying economic cooperation with Russia and attract investors to Macedonia. In our opinion, the potential of bilateral cooperation is not used in full. We intend to exert effort to strengthen trade relations with the Russian Federation,” Popovski pointed out.
