Trans-Caucasian highway closed because of heavy snow

There is a threat of snow avalanches

VLADIKAVKAZ, February 8 (Itar-Tass) — A heavy snowfall has forced the North Ossetian authorities to close the Trans-Caucasian highway linking Russia and South Ossetia, a spokeswoman for the North Ossetian emergencies ministry told Itar-Tass on Wednesday.

“There is a threat of snow avalanches so the road section from the settlement of Buron to the Northern entry to the Roksoksky tunnel was closed for traffic,” the spokeswoman said.

Earlier, the Georgian Military Road was closed because of a snow slide.
