Fire at Kyzyl’s airport causes over one million rouble in damage

Damage caused by a fire at Kyzyl’s airport reached 1.5 million roubles

GORNO-ALTAISK, February 8 (Itar-Tass) — Damage caused by a fire in an hangar at Kyzyl’s airport reached 1.5 million roubles, the press service of the West Siberian investigation transport department told Itar-Tass on Wednesday.

The fire occurred at about 7 p.m. local time on Tuesday and enveloped the area of 1,500 square metres. Two hours later the fire was localised. Two An-2 planes and the Mi-8 helicopter’s fuselage burnt down. The hangar burnt down and its roof came down.

The fire did affect the functioning of the airport in Kyzyl.

Investigators continue working on the spot. The causes of the fire are being determined.
