PARIS, February 8. (ITAR-TASS). The French set a new record for electricity consumption - as a result of unprecedented cold weather the "psychological" mark of 100 thousand megawatts was surpassed.

Currently, in more than half of the departments of France special regulations were intruduced  due to the "Siberian winter" that came to Europe. Meanwhile, the national grid operator, "Electricite de France," assured that there will not be any power outages. CEO Henri Proglio reminded that nuclear power plants are at the disposal of the power grid, which include 58 nuclear reactors and 21 thermal power plants. He claimed that unprecedented frosts confirmed correctness of the French path of maintaining and developing "peaceful nuclear energy."
These days are especially difficult for the homeless. Fore example, in Paris, all the shelters are overcrowded. City halls of other major cities allocate additional space to accommodate people who are left on the streets. Last week, the first cases of deaths were reported caused by frostbite. Most of the victims were homeless citizens.

Frosts caused adjustments in virtually all spheres of social life in France. Sport is no exception.  Thus, changes were made to the program of the European Nations Cup and soccer matches in the French Cup.
