KIEV, February 8 (Itar-Tass) — Ukraine will start privatizing companies supplying gas to the population and industries in May.
The country’s state property fund approved a privatization plan.
In May-July 48 companies will tender their stock for sale. It is expected that from 1 percent to 26 percent of their charter capital will be marketed. In particular, shares in Sumygaz, Nikolaevgaz, Krymgaz, Kievoblgaz and Khersongaz will be put up for sale.
Neftegaz Ukrainy has already handed over securities of 18 gas supplying companies to the property fund.
Privatization of regional gas supplying companies is a part of Neftegaz Ukrainy’s restructuring. In October 2011 Naftogaz decided to liquidate its subsidiary responsible for gas marketing – Gaz Ukrainy.
In 2011 consumers received 45 billion cubic meters of gas through supplying companies.
