Assad ready to send delegation to inter-Syrian meeting in Moscow

The Ministry official said, Вashar Assad expressed understanding and support of Russia's approaches

MOSCOW, February 8 (Itar-Tass) — The Syrian president is prepared to send an official government delegation to an inter-Syrian meeting in Moscow, a Russian Foreign Ministry official said, basing himself on the results of the meeting in Damascus between Bashar Assad and Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov and RF foreign intelligence chief Mikhail Fradkov.

The Ministry official said, "Bashar Assad expressed understanding and support of Russia's approaches (to the issue) and confirmed readiness to send an official government delegation to an inter-Syrian meeting in Moscow".

"During the conversation (in Damascus), the Russian side reaffirmed the (policy) line towards assisting a peaceful settlement of the Syrian crisis by the Syrians themselves, without a foreign interference, and with full respect for Syria's sovereignty; on that basis accentuated the importance of constructive interaction between Syria and the League of Arab States; emphasized the need immediately to terminate violence wherever it comes from, start an inclusive national dialogue at an earliest date, and effect urgent reforms," the Russian Foreign Ministry official pointed out.
