KIEV, February 7 (Itar-Tass) —— Ukrainian President Viktor Yanukovich has called on the national parliament to provide legislative backing for the country’s integration with the European Union.
“In 2012, Ukraine hosts the European Football Cup. It is an important and symbolic event that will throw a new light on Ukraine for Europe and the whole world,” Yanukovich said on Tuesday, opening a regular parliamentary session. This event, in his words, proves that Ukraine is part of the common European space.
“There is no alternative to our path to the European Union and this calls on the lawmakers to work hard to provide legal backing for the integration process,” he stressed.
