MOSCOW, February 4 (Itar-Tass) —— Russian amendments to the draft resolution on Syria require no extraordinary efforts and consensus is possible, Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said.

“Our amendments require no extraordinary efforts, they are based on objective facts, including those stated in the LAS Observer Mission’s report and on the need to comply with the initial principles of the LAS initiative that the dialogue should proceed without any predetermined results and therefore without preconditions,” Lavrov said upon arrival from Munich to Moscow on Saturday, February 4.

“If our colleagues take a constructive approach we will essentially get not the Moroccan resolution but a collective resolution of the Security Council which, I am sure, will be signed by all countries without exception,” the minister said. “And we will thus complete the consensus process started with the submission of the Russian resolution to the Security Council last year,” he added.

“We met with U.S. Secretary of State Hillary Clinton and German Foreign Minister Guido Westerwelle today, we circulated our concerns on paper in Munich,” Lavrov said.

“Our colleagues took our amendments and promised to look at them again. We will wait for New York to wake up and will work again,” he said.
