Lavrov plans to meet Clinton in Munich

In Munich Lavrov and Clinton are expected to discuss Syria, Iran, and the missile defense

MOSCOW, February 3 (Itar-Tass) —— Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov plans to meet his US counterpart Hillary Clinton on the sidelines of the security conference in Munich this weekend.

“The meeting is being agreed,” Lavrov said on Friday upon return from a tour of Asia and the Pacific Rim.

Earlier reports said Clinton failed to discuss over the phone the UN draft resolution on Syria with Lavrov who was visiting the South Pacific this week.

In Munich Lavrov and Clinton are expected to discuss Syria, Iran, and the missile defense.

The US Department of State also said a meeting in Munich was likely.

“I don’t have any particular meetings to announce at the moment, but there is a good opportunity there (at the Munich security conference),” State Department spokeswoman Victoria Nuland told a briefing on Thursday.
