STRASBOURG, February 2 (Itar-Tass) — The PACE observer mission will arrive to Russia on February 8, the PACE press service reported on Thursday.
The delegation led by the Dutch deputy Tiny Kox involves five parliamentarians and comes to Moscow on an official visit on February 8, the press service said. The key task of the visit will be the assessment of election legislation and monitoring of the election campaign, the press service added.
While in the Russian capital, PACE delegates will have meetings with the head of the Central Election Commission Vladimir Churov, State Duma speaker Sergei Naryshkin and Russian ombudsman Vladimir Lukin. The delegation hopes to exchange views on the pace of the election campaign with the presidential candidates, including with those who were denied registration.
The 30-member delegation will visit Russia again at the end of February. The preliminary results will be made public the next day after elections.
Earlier in the day, Churov said a total of 69 international observers working on a long-term basis begun monitoring the presidential election campaign.
