Communists agree to cooperate with the Voters' League

Zyuganov is ready to invite volunteers from the Voters' League to work at the polling stations as his representatives

MOSCOW, February 2 (Itar-Tass) — The presidential candidate and the leader of the Communist party Gennady Zyuganov declared that he is ready to invite volunteers from the Voters' League to work at the polling stations as his representatives. "I think it is possible to accept your proposals and sign a corresponding agreement," Zyuganov said in a statement which came to Itar-Tass.

Zyuganov thanked the Voters’ League, which offered its cooperation. Ensuring honest presidential election is a key problem on the agenda, Zyuganov stressed. A common task set forth to all the political and public forces is to ensure that the election procedure is transparent and that the results of the election are summed up honestly, Zyuganov said.

Earlier, Zyuganov’s First deputy, the First Duma Vice-speaker Ivan Melnikov told Itar-Tass that the communists were ready to cooperate with the Voters' League. "We should find mechanisms of pooling our efforts," Melnikov said. The present situation in respect to the election prompts a conclusion that there can never be too many observers, Melnikov said. Resource possibilities offered by the founders of the Voters’ League in their letter are incomparable with the possibilities of the Communist party, Melnikov said.

Earlier, the Voters’ League offered to use the League’s volunteers to act as representatives of all the presidential candidates. LDPR leader Vladimir Zhirinovsky, who is also a candidate for presidency, approved the League’s proposal. A Just Russia party and its leader Sergei Mironov, who will also run for presidency on March 4, approved the League's proposal as well.
