MOSCOW, February 2 (Itar-Tass) — The United States spent 160 million U.S. dollars in 2009-2011 to support civil society in Russia, Federation Council deputy chairman Ilyas Umakhanov said.
Speaking at a round-table meeting in the State Duma on Thursday, Umakhanov said, “According to reports that I have, for three years – 2009-2011 a total of 160 million U.S. dollars have been provided from the U.S. budget to support the so-called civil society, mass media etc. in Russia.”
