MOSCOW, February 2 (Itar-Tass) —— Road services in the Volgograd Region are mobilized to free 67 automobiles blocked in snow, a source at the press service of the Russian Emergencies Ministry's regional department told Itar-Tass on Wednesday.
Traffic on the road between Volgograd and Saratov is closed because of the bad weather conditions.
Snowdrifts blocked 67 automobiles on the road on Wednesday.
The regional EMERCOM centre sent a group of specialists and a mobile station to the site. Sixty five people and 34 special vehicles were working there, dealing with the snowfall consequences, the source said.
Rescuers in snowmobiles went from Kamyshin to the blocked road to help the drivers. A Kamaz truck carrying warm things also headed there. Special vehicles were sent to clear the road of snow, the head of the press service of the Emergencies Ministry's Southern regional centre, Oleg Grekov, said earlier.
The official noted that emergency services had repeatedly warned about hard weather conditions and a complicated situation on the Volgograd-Saratov road.
Due to the heavy snow conditions, Saratov regional traffic police closed the Syzran-Saratov-Volgograd road from Saratov to the Volgograd Region's border, a traffic police source told Itar-Tass.
The road is also closed for traffic from the Volgograd Region to the Saratov Region. Transport from Saratov is diverted to a bypass way via Borisoglebsk, the Voronezh Region, to the M6 Caspy federal highway.
