Moscow court upholds legitimacy of the second verdict for the former YUKOS CEO

Moscow city court does not overturn the verdict for Khodorkovsky and Lebedev

MOSCOW, January 31 (Itar-Tass) — The Moscow City Court published on its website a response of the Court’s chairwoman Olga Yegorova to a supervisory appeal lodged by the former YUKOS CEO Mikhail Khodorkovsky and former MENATEP director Platon Lebedev, who are seeking to have the second verdict within the YUKOS case overturned.

"After checking the materials retrieved from the court of original jurisdiction, I consider the arguments you have cited in your statement to be invalid. The court's conclusion on culpability of Khodorkovsky in committing the crimes, for which he was convicted, are based on the body of evidence examined by the court of original jurisdiction, which was detailed and analyzed in the verdict," Yegorova said.
