MOSCOW, January 30 (Itar-Tass) —— The Lanta Tur Voyage travel company, which suspended its operations due to financial difficulties began to accept compensation claims on Monday from clients who suffered as a result of the company's financial breakdown.
The clients who are claiming compensations may apply either to Lanta Tur Voyage or directly to Ingosstrakh insurance company where Lanta Tur Voyage's liability was insured at 100 million roubles, the Association of Tour Operators of Russia (ATOR) said on Monday.
The necessary documents needed to get the compensation include a personal claim in writing with the indication of the name of the tour operator, its financial liability, the number of a contract the tour operator signed with the client with the indication of the date of signing, information what particular services specified in the contract were provided improperly or not provided altogether, a concrete sum an applicant claims in compensation, documents which confirm the sum of damages suffered by the tourist, including documents to prove that the client had to pay for hotel accommodation twice. Besides, the victims should have a copy of a document certifying that the travel agency refused to pay the damages on its own free will.

Lanta Tur Voyage was one of the biggest travel companies on the Russian market. On Friday Lanta Tur suddenly suspended its operations; as a result, around 100 Lanta Tur clients failed to fly abroad overnight to Saturday, January 28. The number of tourists booked to fly abroad this weekend is around 600, ATOR said.
More than 1,500 clients who bought vouchers at Lanta Tur are staying abroad at present, and around a thousand Russians who booked their tours abroad via Lanta Tur will not go abroad this weekend.
Lanta Tur Voyage has been in travel business for 12 years. It organizes trips abroad to such countries as Thailand, Vietnam, India.
