NEW DELHI, January 29 (Itar-Tass) —— Indian tour operators will send letters of guarantee to hotels where Lanta Tur Voyage clients are staying by request of the Russian consulate general in Mumbai. Lanta Tur Voyage, one of the biggest and oldest tourist companies in Russia, suddenly announced the suspension of its activity on Friday, the consulate general’s Roman Vorobyov told Itar-Tass on Sunday.

He said the tourists were unable to check out because the tourist company did not transfer the money to the hotels. “As far as we know, the tourists are on their way to the hotel. Indian tour operators – partners of Lanta Tur Voyage – agreed to send letters of guarantee to the hotels by request of the consulate general,” he said.

Meanwhile, Aeroflot resident representative to India Alexander Sokolov told Itar-Tass that the airline would take aboard the Lanta Tur Voyage tourists. “Aeroflot makes regular flights to Goa under a Russian-Indian intergovernmental agreement, so we have the right to take aboard passengers who have arrived by chartered flights,” he said.

The Goa resort in southwestern India is one of the best-beloved destinations of Russian tourists. From 5,000 to 10,000 Russians spent their vacations in Goa in late December 2011.
