MOSCOW, January 29 (Itar-Tass) —— The police have identified five people killed in a household gas explosion in Priyutovo, Bashkortostan, and four people injured in that accident, the Russian Investigation Committee said on Sunday.
“The explosion killed two workers, aged 24 and 29, who were installing a stretch ceiling in an apartment on the house’s first floor, a 24-months-old girl, her 55-year-old grandmother and 59-year-old grandfather. Four people were taken to hospital: the 40-year-old owner of the apartment where the stretch ceiling was been being installed, her neighbors aged 66 and 71 and a 14-year-old girl from a house nearby. Their condition is stable,” the committee said.
It confirmed that the explosion was caused by the breach of the rules of the gas cylinder use. The workers brought in the gas cylinder from the cold street and started working immediately without waiting it to warm up.
Four apartments tumbled down in the central part of the house. Bashkortostan authorities said they would give material aid to the families of the dead and the injured.
