MAKHACHKALA, January 29 (Itar-Tass) —— Two children were hurt in the explosion of a handmade bomb in Makhachkala, Dagestan, the republican interior ministry told Itar-Tass.
A grenade was tossed at a house on Shamil Avenue on Saturday night. The building was damaged. “A police patrol came to the incident scene several minutes after, and a handmade bomb stuffed with pieces of metal went off. It was equivalent approximately seven to nine kilograms of TNT,” the ministry said.
The bomb was planted in a dust bin. The explosion made a crater with the diameter of 50 centimeters and the depth of 15 centimeters. Two children were hurt. They are staying at the republican clinic.
“The driver of a car, which sped off the explosion scene, was seized and taken to a police station. Charges of hooliganism, illegal storing and use of explosives and illegal weapon were brought,” the ministry said.
