KIEV, January 28 (Itar-Tass) — Ukraine hopes that France supports Kiev’s drive for approaching the European Union.
In his greetings message to French President Nicolas Sarkozy on his birthday on Saturday, Ukrainian President Viktor Yanukovich said, “I hope that France will continue to support Ukraine’s policy towards approaching the European Union and making contribution to carrying out social, economic and political reforms.”
At the same time, the Ukraine president said he is convinced that Ukrainian-French relations “have a considerable potential for the fruitful development for the benefit of the peoples of both countries”.
Yanukovich also said he “remembers the meeting with Nicolas Sarkozy with pleasure”. The meeting took place in Paris in October 2010.
